Great Q! So, hypnosis is less like medicine and more like dancing. If you take a pill and don't feel anything, you might assume that it just doesn't work for you. But with hypnosis, it's the unique interaction between you (the follower) and the hypnotist (the leader) that crates results. If you just dance with one person and it doesn't end up being a good dance, you could try two things: find a different partner, and/or learn more about dancing yourself. The sleep trigger worked so instantly for me because 1.My leader and I have a relationship so longstanding and intimate that I can follow wherever he leads without even thinking, and 2. I have *a lot of dancing experience* so I'm better at following than I used to be. Whereas maybe 8 years ago someone would have had to walk me through the steps slowly, now my body simply knows how to twirl and dip from a simple flick of their wrist. Other things I did were a lot of therapy and unpacking trauma/anxiety/stress... also, Lexapro.
