First, I don't believe I know more about CAB than you do.
I simply haven't worked with it.
This is because customers often request a slightly brownish tint.
That said, if I were to answer? If you prioritize sound quality when choosing lacquer, you should opt for traditional pure lacquer. The lacquer I use contains harmful solvents and plasticizers that could potentially cause contamination.
Clear lacquer has a slight amber tint even in its base state.
Considering contamination concerns, I believe large companies cannot use such lacquers, which is why they rely on flexible lacquers like CAB.
If you desire a beautiful, transparent clear finish, I recommend CAB or modern lacquers. However, lacquer inherently tends to yellow over time.
It might be difficult to completely prevent yellowing with lacquer.
